Meet Ben Zimmerman

Ben was born and raised in Central Illinois, growing up with his parents in Pekin and then living in Morton for a period before moving to Bloomington in 1999. He and his wife, Kara, have lived in Ward 1 since 2002, when they purchased their first home together on South Center in the South Hill neighborhood. In 2005 they sold their home on Center and purchased a home in the Blooming Grove neighborhood where they reside today with their three children, cats, and dogs.

Ben worked for State Farm Insurance Companies in various information technology roles from 2001 until 2023. In 2023 Ben joined HCL Tech to further his technical skills and is now an IT consultant.

In addition to his corporate IT experience, Ben is passionate about photography, videography, music, electronics, fitness, saltwater aquaria, and automobiles.
